Fargo,

We were moved by your stories, your songs and your weather. Set up at one of the best places in the area, the U.S. Bank Plaza, we got a great glimpse at the growth happening downtown. We also had a warm welcome from just about every radio and TV station in Fargo!

The best parts, still, were the stories we heard from the community. Thank you to everyone who shared.

Best movie night on tour (and in case you’re wondering, we did not get to see “the woodchipper”),

I am quite proud of my Norwegian heritage, the 1/8th of it I can claim.

And since I can remember, I have been infatuated with all things Norway. The vikings, the fjords, the Nordic Track… and now, after meeting Kari-Jo, I also have a place in my heart for Norwegian natives living in Fargo.

Here’s a peek inside our Mutual of Omaha studio as Kari-Jo teaches Jess and I to sing a verse of the Norwegian national anthem. 

After this video, you might think Jess and I should be the next contestants on Norway’s Got Talent.

Lots of live TV attention (and early mornings).

Our first Congressional aha moment (from North Dakota’s Senator Tim).

“My aha moment occurred when I saw men staring at the ground and heard women wailing in Mexico in 1971. I realized that everyone deserved some sort of health care.”

The Woodchipper.

When you read those two words, the film “Fargo” should be the first thing that comes to mind. I mean, it’s probably one of the most infamous objects in American cinema. But, on one of our long drives, I mentioned THE Woodchipper, and no one knew what I was talking about.

At that moment, I knew there was no other option: We are watching Fargo. In Fargo. No better place, right? Right! 

And we did.
