Susie and I had just met on-line.  We had been dating for about 2 months getting to know each other.  Susie was running a cooking school and I was the VP of Marketing for a small semiconductor firm in Silicon Valley.  She worked evenings and I worked during the day.  We were sitting in her back yard on a Wednesday and I said "why don't we find something we can do together and work this hard for ourselves?"  Susie asked me what I was thinking of.  I told her "How about a B&B in the wine country."  She said "I've never stayed in a B&B and don't know anything about them."  That Saturday we both had the day off so we drove up to Napa and checked in with a realitor, Caroline Roberts. She told us there were three B&B's for sale in the area, two in Calistoga and onein Napa. The places in Calistoga were small 4 bedroom places with lots of Lace and Teddy Bears.  Well, I'm not the lace and teddy bear kind of guy, so we drove down to Napa and found the street with the third B&B for sale.  As we drove down it there were Big Beautiful Victorian after Big Beautiful Victorians, then in the center of the block, there was a short squatty adobe- you guessed it- that was it.  We were disappointed but I wanted to see other beautiful Victorians in the area.  Whe we drove down Oak street we came to Coombs and there on the corner was the Cedar Gables Inn.  Susie exclaimed "Oh my, I would like a B&B like that one."  I parked the car across the street and told her that the reason we came up here was to show you what a B&B was like, so lets go take a look.  As we stepped up to the front door I reached out to ring the doorbell and my cell phone started ringing in my pocket.  It was Caroline from the real estate office.  She told me that another B&B had just come up on the computer that we should take a look at.  I asked Caroline where it was, she said "Coombs Street."  I answered "We are on Coombs Street."  She said "Its the Cedar Gables Inn."  I said" Caroline, we are at the front door..."  There was a long pause on the phone and Susie spoke up and said "That is our sign from God, lets buy it" so we did, 5 years ago.  We have never had so much fun in our lives.  - All the best, Ken.
