I worked with a non-profit in Chicago that works with at risk youth. I loved the job but found it very taxing. The best thing about it was that in my work I had to wear many hats and I became a very good writer as a result. That skill really helped as I made the transition from non-profit work to blogging and professional writing. I am now working on a book that incorporates cooking and local flavor. This whole experience has taught me to slow down a bit and appreciate my life to its fullest.
